History of Graphology

Ancient origins
You could be forgiven for thinking that graphology was a relatively new science. In fact, it has a history stretching back centuries. Six thousand years ago, the ancient Chinese were already analyzing their calligraphy, assessing it for revealed personality traits. In Europe a few thousand years later, in ancient Greece and Rome, handwriting analysis was being carried out to high levels. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) is quoted as saying:
“Spoken words are the symbols of mental experience, and written words are the symbols of spoken words.” - Aristotle
Suetonius (A.D. 69-140), a Roman historian, included handwriting analysis in his celebrated work; Lives of the Caesars.
